Halloween season is the perfect time to bond and have fun as a family. Aside from candies, creative costumes to buy, or DIY and carving pumpkins, Halloween crafts are another way to get excited for the big day. Kitten Pumpkin
Start by marking a circle around the top of the large pumpkin and cut it off using a carving kit or a strong serrated knife. If you are using a real pumpkin, remove all pulp and seeds from inside using a large metal spoon. Paint mini pumpkins with two coats of black spray paint and allow them to dry out completely. Add rhinestones for eyes, embroidery thread whiskers, and pompom noses with hot glue. Cut out cat ears from velour paper and glue each to a toothpick. Stick toothpicks into the top of the pumpkins. Fill the large pumpkin with crumbled newspaper and nestle kitten pumpkins on top. Fill water tubes with water and freshly cut flowers and place them in the pumpkin. Refresh water every single day.
Jack-o-Lantern Paper Plate Craft
You will need a paper plate, orange and black markers or crayons, hole punch, and green pipe cleaner. Kick off with coloring your paper plate orange. Punch a hole at the top of your orange plate with a hole punch. Put a green pipe cleaner through the hole. Twist the pipe cleaner around itself, so it stays attached. Using a marker or crayon, wrap your pipe cleaner around it, and slide the pipe cleaner off to make spirals. Draw a face on your pumpkin if you want! You can use things like sequins, stickers, or other materials to jazz up your pumpkins.
Mason Jar Lid Spider
You will need; Mason jar lids, black construction paper, black paint, paint brushes, wooden clothespins, white yarn or string, wiggly eyes, glue, and scissors. Start with painting the clothespins black on both sides and allow them to dry completely. While the clothespins are drying, cover the entire Mason jar lid with white glue. Tear small pieces of paper, then press them into the glue to cover the lid. Glue two wiggly eyes (or as many wiggly eyes) to the Mason jar lid. Cut a small piece of white yarn or string with scissors. Squeeze a small dot of glue into your fingertips, then pull the string through the glue. Press the gluey string to the Mason jar lid to complete the spider’s smile. Squeeze the clothespins onto the spider. If you want, you can secure a loop of yarn to the back of the spider to turn it into a fall ornament.
Cardboard Tube Halloween Mummy
You will need an empty cardboard tube, white tissue paper torn into strips, sponges for spreading glue, glue, water, and googly eyes. First, you will need to thin your glue with water and mix it well to make your Halloween mummy. Use small sponges to spread the glue on the cardboard tube and wrap strips of tissue paper around it. Spread some glue over on top of the tissue paper and wrap some more tissue paper around your tube. Instead of smearing, dab your sponge on top of the tissue paper to avoid tearing of the tissue paper. Once you are satisfied with your wrapping, set your tube aside to dry completely. At first, it will look like a wet mess, but you will have a mummy once dried. Once your mummy has dried, glue on the googly eyes using regular strength glue and not your thinned-out glue for the eyes.
